Revealing the fun side of fashion

Melinda at Harvard Business School

I always thought that school was not for me. While I've always loved to learn, I was never a good student. At a certain point, I made peace with that and focused on what I was good at, eventually starting my business, Melinda Maria. In the years since its inception, I've always strived to make myself and my business better. So, when the opportunity to attend a week-long program for executives at Harvard Business School presented itself, I just couldn't say no.

Understandably, I was very nervous. But to go from a girl that didn't think she was a student to Harvard is pretty cool.

So, with determination in my heart, an eagerness to learn, and a suitcase full of jewelry, I set off for the hallowed halls of Harvard. Age? Well, that's just a number, and I was determined to prove that it's never too late to learn and grow.

Over the course of a week, I attended classes and studied every day from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm. I was ready to rise to the challenge, ready to soak in knowledge like a sponge from both the lectures and my classmates.

And I came away from this experience with so many ideas, friendships, and new tools. I am so glad I did this.

The lesson here? Never stop learning. Here I am, never having finished college. I have this amazing company that I love so much, and I'm studying at Harvard Business School. Never stop trying things that scare you.

xo, Melinda
